Make your voice heard on instructional materials before July 31

Now through July 31, Texas educators have an opportunity to review and weigh in on the next round of instructional materials submitted through the state’s Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process for Cycle 2026.
Feedback from educators, parents, and community members can help shape what eventually becomes state-approved instructional content used in Texas classrooms.
This review process comes as instructional materials continue to play an increasingly important role in Texas public education policy. Under recent state laws, districts receive additional funding incentives tied to the use of state-approved high-quality instructional materials, and the State Board of Education (SBOE) has faced growing scrutiny over the content, accuracy, and suitability of materials submitted through IMRA.
Educators who review the materials can submit both general feedback and formal suitability concerns. Suitability concerns may include issues related to factual accuracy, age appropriateness, alignment, bias, errors, or other concerns educators believe the SBOE and Texas Education Agency should consider before approval decisions are made.
The public review period is also important because SBOE members have repeatedly emphasized that educator participation helps identify concerns that may not surface during the formal review process alone. Recent instructional material debates, including those surrounding Bluebonnet Learning materials and statewide literary works proposals, highlighted how public feedback can influence revisions, corrections, and board discussions before final approval votes occur.
