Special session and election resources for educators and txed supporters
Date Posted: 10/07/2023
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Oct. 7 Boot Vouchers Rally at the Texas State Capitol. Now, what’s next?
Attending the rally was an important first step in setting the direction for the special session that begins Oct. 9, but staying involved is the key to ensuring success. Take the message from the rally and reach out to your legislators. Urge them to oppose vouchers, thank those who already have, and ask them to continue to stand strong. Stay informed of developments throughout the special session. If you are a member of a pro-public education organization, be on the lookout for calls to action. If you are not yet a member, become one.
If you are an educator, join an educator organization. ATPE is the state’s largest and we welcome you to join our efforts. If you are a parent or campus educator, please join your local PTA or PTO. Finally, if you are a supporter of public education from any background, sign up to follow Texans for Public Education. These organizations will provide you with the tools you need to stay informed and engaged, not only through the upcoming special session but also as we enter the even more critical election season – where the real work will begin.
The future of our state depends on public education, and the future of public education will be determined by the folks we elect to come to Austin. If we want to have the resources for a strong and vibrant public education for the children of Texas, then we must send politicians to Austin who are dedicated to providing those resources. That starts by ensuring that every pro-public education Texan participates in the most important contest of the election season – the March primary!
The links below will provide you with more tools for the special Session and upcoming election season.
Thank you again and onward to victory!
