Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed the 88th Legislature’s omnibus school safety bill Wednesday, providing needed funding for shoring up school safety in the wake of the Uvalde tragedy.
House Bill (HB) 3 by Rep. Dustin Burrows (R–Lubbock), which was the final school safety bill, combined elements of two other bills: HB 13 by Rep. Ken King (R–Canadian) and SB 11 by Sen. Robert Nichols (R–Jacksonville). The bill includes a provision for an armed officer at every campus, as well as $330 million in additional school safety funding. It was finally passed on the last weekend of the regular session.
School safety is one of ATPE’s legislative priorities for the 88th Legislature, as well as a key priority of both legislative chambers.

From The Texas Tribune: A school voucher program in Texas is more likely than ever. Can lawmakers craft a bill they agree on?
Some voucher opponents are ready to compromise; others are hoping supporters will fumble over the program's size, eligibility and accountability.
I would hardly say they funded it. They have every school an additional 28 cents per student. I’m sure our parents will feel safer now.
