Additional Information

First elected to the Texas House in 2024. Dutton won a January 2024 special election to fill the House District 2 vacancy created when the House voted to expel former Rep. Bryan Slaton (R-Royse City) from the Legislature during the 2023 legislative session. Current term expires January 2025.

Former school board member, Van ISD; former President, Republican Women of Van Zandt.  Website section “Meet Jill” says she favors “empowering parents in our schools.”

*Dutton was defeated in the 2024 Republican primary election for Texas House District 2. She will not be on the ballot for the November 2024 general election.

Opposed in the 2024 Republican primary election by Defend Texas Liberty PAC, a pro-voucher PAC funded by billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks. Defend Texas Liberty is an offshoot of the former Empower Texans PAC, which is known for being pro-voucher and using questionable election tactics.
