Ahead of an anticipated Second Called Session of the 88th Texas Legislature, House Speaker Dade Phelan (R–Beaumont) sent a memo Tuesday to state representatives and their staffs letting them know the House will convene at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Shortly after the release of Phelan’s memo to House members, the Senate adjourned sine die, officially bringing the first special session of 2023 to a close.
Though we do not know yet what topics may be included on the call from Gov. Greg Abbott (R), we expect the second special session to be focused on property tax relief. A special session regarding school vouchers is not anticipated until September.
